The team is currently approximately 35 people comprising clinicians, epidemiologists, statisticians, data scientists and technology experts. The team have a wealth of experience in using CPRD through their collective academic track records. Several of the team maintain honorary academic affiliations. The team’s work covers evidence generation approaches predominantly with pharmaceutical companies, helping to identify the variation in health needs of patients with given chronic conditions. This recent publication funded and co-authored by NICE is an example of this type of work the team conduct - https://www.thelancet.com/journals/eclinm/article/PIIS2589-5370(22)00314-5/fulltext. The Health Analytics team have and continue to use Discover-NOW (HDRUK dataset), UK Biobank and the SAIL (Wales) datasets for this research. The second area of the team’s work includes helping to design new payment models for the NHS to better align payments with patient outcomes. Some of this work, with NHS Wales and Pfizer, was recently presented at ISPOR health economics conference - https://www.ispor.org/heor-resources/presentations-database/presentation/euro2022-3566/122883 . Alongside this work, the Health Analytics team have provided pro-bono analytics support to a range of groups to further the public’s health including the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology for their ‘Left for too Long’ report on NHS Waiting Lists, providing visualisations for the Office for National Statistics (ONS) National Health Index and currently working collaboratively with OHID, ONS and NHS investigating excess mortality and the indirect impact of the covid-19 pandemic on cardiovascular disease through a programme of work for the Chief Medical Officer led by our Head of Health Analytics. LCP is a financial, actuarial and analytics consultancy. In these roles LCP undertakes risk modelling across a range of sectors including across large pension schemes, energy and health analytics. LCP is an 80-year partnership and historically has focused on advising large occupational pension schemes. That advice includes actuarial support in calculating the liabilities of pension schemes, advice on investment options according to the liability of the pension scheme and the administration of pension schemes (i.e. the processing required when a pension scheme member retires and draws down on their pension). A very small portion of LCP’s work (approximately 5%) provides actuarial advice to general insurers (such as motor or home insurance). This is not related to health insurance.
