Human, material and capital resources have been devoted to fast development of teaching and research, and as a result, the overall level has been improved. All medical workers actively integrate oral clinical medicine with scientific research, and the research area is ever expanding and deepening since the school’s establishment in 1980’s. The current pattern is for clinical and basic research to promote each other and comprehensive research and specialized research to complement each other. After 20 years of development, we have formed a platform for oral medicine research, and our Institute of Dental Research has become an important site for oral medicine and graduate student training. Our Laboratory for Gene Therapy and Molecularbiology, Laboratory of Oral Microbiology and Laboratory for Caries and Experimental Pathology are conducting many a national research projects, such as 863 National Key Project, National Funding Project for Outstanding Young Scientists, National Funding Project for Natural Science. Meanwhile, it also cooperates with National Institutes of Health of the U.S.A (NIH) and universities and research institutes from France, Japan and some other countries. Since 1990, this hospital has been awarded more than 50 awards of different kinds and levels (national, municipal and institutional). Its annual publications are more than 90, appearing in all kinds of academic periodicals and magazines. The hospital ranks high in orthodontics, prosthodontics, oral medicine, etc. With the development of the hospital, its investment in research is on the increase year by year, and as a result, the research conditions have been improved. Ever since 2000, the hospital has conducted 62 research projects of the nation, the Ministry of Public Health, Beijing municipality, Beijing Public Health Bureau and Capital Medical University.
